Wassup Wednesday

I’m sure many of you have heard the phrase “freaky Friday “, Or, “taco Tuesday “. For me last week was “wassup Wednesday”.  Like, “wassup with all this crazy stuff happening to me today?” bringing my frustration level to a level 10.

The day started with running an errand to Ace Hardware for my wife to, “pick up the largest plastic tote, with a lid, Ace has to offer.“ I found the largest tote they had in the store, but the thought crossed my mind, “This is never gonna be big enough for what Donna wants to use it for.“ But… being the dutiful husband… I bought it anyway. I also bought a large 24 pack of toilet paper.

All the way to the checkout down the ramp to the exit door and out to my car, the thought kept crossing my mind, “Donna is never gonna be happy with this size of tote. The 10 mile drive home… “Donna is never gonna be happy with the size of this tote“… driving in the driveway… “Donna is never gonna be happy with the size of this tote.” Taking the tote out of the car and walking up to my back porch, I gave the tote a heave up onto the back porch all the while thinking… You guessed it! Then I went back to the car and got the 24 pack of toilet paper. Walking up to the back step, I gave it a heave on top of the tote and the package ripped open and 24 rolls of toilet paper rolled all over the back porch. As you can, imagine, I was really frustrated at this point!

My final episode of “wassup Wednesday” came when I got in the car to pull into the garage. I heard a loud crash and realized my garage door was stuck on the hatch I had left open. I managed to rip off half of the trim of the back hatch which was hanging from one little power cord on my latch. At this point, my frustration level is higher than a level 10…  mainly frustrated with myself that everything that had just happened to me was because I felt like “an accident looking for a place to happen“ one of my old identities. basically. I was frustrated all the rest of the day until I went to bed.

Just before I went to bed, my wife said to me, “make sure you empty your fear to the Lord.“ I didn’t… And I basically tossed and turned the whole sleepless night.

The next morning, I sat down with my Bible and the Lord took me to Acts 5:17-19, “The high priest and his officials, who were Sadducees, were filled with jealousy. They arrested the apostles and put them in the public jail. But an angel of the Lord came at night, opened the gates of the jail, and brought them out. Then he told them, “Go to the Temple and give the people this message of life!”

Then the Lord took me to Acts 5:23, “The jail was securely locked, with the guard’ standing outside, but when they opened the gates, no one was there!”

Then it dawned on me… The only way  the gates could’ve been locked, was, when the angel  let the apostles out, he locked the gates behind him as he left.

This is what the Lord told me…

When I gave you your new identity, we dealt with a spirit of fear that had been running rampant in your life for years. I opened the gate and led you out of fear and closed the gate behind you. The fear you experienced yesterday was the result of you opening the gate and going back into the prison of fear. I am bringing you back out of the prison of fear today and locking the gate behind you. As I told you before, you are not, “an accident looking for a place to happen“ anymore. You are a, “miracle looking for a place to happen“. To show you that my miracle working power is still in place, go back out to your car pick up the trim, hanging from the back of the car and snap it back in place.”

Which I did… And it did… Fit perfectly back in place!  No damage to the garage door… No damage to the rest of the car… Other than a minor adjustment I’ve got to make when the weather gets better to my back up camera… oh… And the other miracle? 24 rolls of run-away toilet paper never fell off the porch into the mud or snow!

Thank you, Lord, for your loving care over me during my, “wassup Wednesday” and every day for that matter. You are such a good Father, and I love being your “Bold Freedom Fighter”.

Oh… And in case you’re wondering… The tote I bought for Donna was too small… But she decided to use it for something else…
